Nafta-Geotherm d.o.o. is the leading company in Slovenia in the field of production of fossil fuels and exploitation of geothermal energy for heating residential and commercial properties.
The beginnings of the development of the company were established in 1860, when in this area they first discovered springs of crude oil. From then until 1945 research and production carried was carried out by various foreign companies. In 1945 a company was founded for exploration and production of oil and gas, which actually still operates today but it has experienced a variety of organizational transformation. Thus, from a company that is exclusively engaged in exploration and production of oil and gas at home and abroad in 1963 became a locus upstream business. Only the production of oil and gas remains at the discovered oil and gas fields Petišovci and Dolina. Research activities of oil and gas began in 1981 with the establishment of the RNP (exploration of oil and gas), which then in 1985 became TOZD RPNP (Exploration and the production of oil and gas) within the company Nafta Lendava.
In 1988, by removing TOZD, the RPNP became a sector under Nafta Lendava and it operated until the beginning of 2003, when the company Nafta - Geotherm, a subsidiary of Nafta Lendava was established. Nafta-Geoterm took over all the activities from the sector RPNP with regards to exploration and the production of oil and gas and underground water.
The plans for the future of the Nafta-Geoterm focus primarily on exploration of geothermal energy resources and building systems for the acquisition and exploitation of this renewable, environmentally friendly source of energy for heating and generating electricity.
